Our group is linked to the Department of Clinical Research at the University of Bern and to the University Clinic of Rheumatology, Immunology and Allergology at the Inselhospital, Bern. Our research focuses in three main areas: 1) basic research on the regulation of the immune answer and how innate immune responses influence adaptive immunity; 2) applied research by translating fundamental research into novel medicines; 3) research in allergy field by studying basic and applied aspects of IgE regulation and mast cell biology. In our research we use molecular biology and cellular immunology approaches combined with animal models of disease to identify important biological mechanisms underlying the immune answer in healthy and pathophysiological conditions.
