Our interdisciplinary and translational laboratory is focused on uncovering the underlying molecular mechanisms of novel therapeutic approaches for the treatment of Chronic Liver Disease (CLD). We challenge existing approaches by emphasizing the role of liver stiffness, influenced by mechanical forces, in both the progression and potential regression of liver fibrosis and portal hypertension. We also investigate the effects of innovative therapeutic strategies and nanodrug applications on the hepatic microenvironment to reduce intrahepatic vascular resistance caused by extracellular matrix remodeling and endothelial dysfunction. Additionally, we explore the epigenetic changes associated with liver fibrosis to gain comprehensive insights into potential therapeutic interventions.
