The Steroid Laboratory primarily focuses on state-of-the-art mass spectrometry based analysis for research and clinical questions. With the help of gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and liquid chromatography-high resolution mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS), we study steroid metabolism and try to identify and quantify novel steroid pathways. These methods enable us to answer research-related questions and translate these into clinical diagnosis in patients. In this context, we provide clinical routine analysis of steroid-related diseases in collaboration with the Center of Laboratory Medicine (ZLM) at Inselspital.
